John Fox Memorial Prize 17/18

We are pleased to announce that CDT student Jacob van Alwon won the John Fox Memorial prize 2017/18. This prize (£2,000) funds one outstanding researcher in the area of engineering fluid mechanics at Leeds to attend an international placement to support their PhD research. Jacob used the prize to go to the University of Lisbon for a month, and work with Professor Jorge Matos, one of the world's leading experts in the study of stepped spillways. Jacob reported it was a fantastic opportunity and a result has obtained some valuable research data. Jacob presented this work at the John Fox Memorial Award Seminar on the 4th July 2018.
