Be Curious Public Engagement 2019

Date

The 5th cohort of CDT students presented a stand about "funky fluids" at the Be Curious public engagement festival on Saturday 30th March 2019. This annual event at the University of Leeds attracts thousands of attendees and allows the students to engage the general public in their research. The students' stand explored fluids that are non-Newtonian which exhibit interesting behaviour, with demonstrations that included custard that solidifies when struck with a hammer; a speaker cone filled with dissolved corn starch that dances when music is played at a certain frequency; and a fluid that climbs up a rotating rod.
