Location
University of Leeds

Whether you’ve already applied or plan to apply to one of the EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training (CDT) offered by the University of Leeds, come along to our CDT Open Day. Meet the CDT staff and current students, learn more about the Centres for Doctoral Training programmes, and have the opportunity to get your questions answered.

The CDTs bring together diverse areas of expertise in order to train researchers to address engineering and science related problems. They draw on world class and internationally recognised research from a range of disciplines and provide students with the knowledge and skills through which to address today’s global issues and prepare them for future challenges.

The University of Leeds hosts the following CDT programmes and each have up to 10 fully funded* places available for September 2020 entry:

- Artificial Intelligence for Medical Diagnosis and Care
- Fluid Dynamics
- Molecules to Product
- Water and Waste Infrastructure Systems Engineered for Resilience (Water-WISER)

There are also a number of fully funded* PhD studentships available within the following Centres for September 2020 entry:

- Soft Matter for Formulation and Industrial Innovation (led by Durham University, up to 16 places available)

- Bragg Centre for Materials Research (up to 5 places available)

CDT students are funded for 4 years and work in a supportive, cohort environment, creating and developing relationships between teams in Universities and forging lasting links with industry. A number of the CDTs at Leeds have a taught component to the programme which is designed to support a range of academic backgrounds in building a strong foundation in their field before choosing a PhD project. Students’ PhD research is conducted with the support of outstanding supervisors from across the University, alongside the continuation of professional development activities. These include the opportunity to attend an industrial or academic placement; workshops; courses; seminars; career training, and much more.
