Arthur Scott

Background:
I graduated from the University of Leeds with a BSc in Mathematics and Philosophy in 2021, before completing an MSc in Applied Mathematics at the University of Manchester the following year. In both degrees I took a variety of applied modules, but it was my undergraduate final project in finite difference methods and gravity currents which sparked a deeper interest in fluids.

Research Interests:
I am interested in industrial applications of fluid dynamics, geophysical flows, and underlying (mostly numerical) methods used more broadly. Although these are my general interests, I appreciate having the MSc year to properly explore my options.

Why I chose the CDT in Fluid Dynamics:
I knew I wanted to learn more about fluid dynamics but was unsure of a specific PhD project to pursue, so the nature of the CDT course was ideal. I also liked the cohort aspect of completing the course alongside the same people and seeing the progression of their theses as well as my own.
