Ventilatory research for COVID-19

Date

CDT student Rory Hetherington has been involved in research for COVID-19, helping to develop a way of creating a ventilatory system for patients that can be made rapidly on a 3D printer. It is a low-tech solution based on redesigning an existing medical device known as a Venturi valve. It does not need electricity and has no moving parts and could be made in countries without access to advanced manufacturing facilities. Profs Cath Noakes and Nik Kapur are also involved in the research supporting the current COVID-19 crisis.
