New OpenFOAM User Group Forum Launching at the University of Leeds
In June 2026, the CDT's OpenFOAM User Group Forum was established at the University of Leeds to bring together researchers, PhD students, and academics who use, or are interested in, open-source computational fluid dynamics. The forum aims to create an active and supportive community for sharing knowledge, discussing simulation challenges, and fostering collaboration across different research areas.

The forum will be co-led by Christopher Jackson, and Sung Hin (Adrian) Lam, with academic support from Dr Greg de Boer and Dr Masoud Jabbari. Initial activities will include monthly informal coffee meetups, where members can discuss cases, workflows, troubleshooting, post-processing, HPC usage, and conference experiences.
The forum is intended to be accessible, community-driven, and sustainable, helping to build long-term OpenFOAM expertise within Leeds beyond the current organisers’ PhD studies. Researchers and students interested in OpenFOAM are warmly encouraged to get involved.
