CDT internship 2025
We are happy to share that our newest work, 'On the Formation and Dynamics of Micro Dew Droplets on Grass: the Role of Epicuticular Wax' is now available open access in Small.
This is the beginning of an exciting new project that started with our summer intern student Bashra Mahamed and in collaboration with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Here we look at the common occurrence of dew formation on grass, interrogating the role of epicuticular wax using a range of different analytical and microscopy techniques to understand the early stage dynamics of droplets. This paper analyses the interfacial wetting properties of the leaf structure and how dew plays an important role in freshwater supply, providing inspiration for potential engineered water harvesting systems.
